Notion Psychological Services are based in the North West of England but are able to take instruction and accept referrals from all areas of the country. We specialise in areas relating to criminal proceedings, prison progression, parole hearings, and family court matters.

Notion Psychological Services was formed in 2023 by Catherine Phillips, HCPC Registered Consultant Forensic Psychologist. With 16 years of experience working with HM Prison Services and Secure Psychiatric settings Catherine developed Notion with a vision of providing compassionate and trauma informed care and assessment to forensic clientele.

Catherine also lectures in The Psychology of Offending Behaviour at Liverpool John Moores University and embodies trauma informed practice into her teaching to encourage the importance of understanding trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences in the development of offending and socially damaging behaviour.

The team at Notion comprises of psychologists with a vast experience of working within HM Prisons Services, Probation, Secure Psychiatric settings and Specialist Learning Disability and Autism Services. Our team offer treatment and assessment for forensic and non-forensic clientele and have a wealth of experience in providing Expert Witness testimony in court and parole proceedings.
